Located in Dublin, Beaumont Hospital provides acute care services across 54 medical specialities and is the national Irish referral centre for Neurosciences and Renal Transplantation. The hospital offers both in-patient, day-patient and out-patient and casualty services to the population it serves.
Baydale Control Systems Ltd was appointed by Beaumont Hospital in August 2002 to provide the Hospital with a comprehensive CCTV surveillance system to replace its existing one as this was no longer able to meet the Hospital's security needs. In addition the Hospital required an Access Control system to enable it to monitor and indeed limit public and staff access to inappropriate areas within the building.
Strategy and Action
Baydale installed a high specification CCTV system throughout the hospital using a combination of PTZ and fixed cameras both internally and externally. Images are recorded via a state-of-the-art digital recording system and transmitted back to a new, Baydale designed, control room, complete with monitor wall and workstation console, via fibre optic transmission.
In line with our philosophy of providing comprehensive, integrated solutions, we also installed an Access Control system covering all internal and external doors throughout the hospital and its car parks. Again data recorded is transmitted back to the control room via the extensive fibre optic transmission network created by Baydale.
The Access Control element of the system was further integrated with the system already in place at the nearby Royal College of Surgeons and a high degree of flexibility provided by incorporating enough spare capacity on all devices to accommodate any change the Hospital may require in future.
Baydale continues to maintain all aspects of this system and has provided comprehensive training to Hospital staff to ensure they are fully conversant with its operational requirements.
Baydale's system provided, for Beaumont, enhanced security within the building by enabling proactive monitoring by security staff. It offered reliability and back-up together with exceptional end image quality.
